    Iowa Environment 2010 Issue 1

Cover Photo by Mark S. Peterson

With my nature photography, I value opportunities to make a difference close to home. Recently, I’ve been pleased to have some of my images featured as cover artwork for publications produced by the Iowa Environmental Council, including their most recent annual report.  The IEC does excellent and important work, and I’m happy to be associated with them.

Currently, a black-and-white image I created less than a month ago has been selected as the cover shot for the newest issue of the IEC’s quarterly publication, Iowa Environment

This image is of an ice-covered alternate-leaf dogwood (cornus alternifolia), made the morning after one of the many ice storms that hit the Midwest during the winter of 2010.  The image was captured in color, then converted to black-and-white using an Adobe Photoshop Lightroom conversion preset.
